Lux Rao, Senior Director of Solutions, Consulting And Digital Transformation, NTT Ltd. has passed away. He came with over three decades of experience, beginning his career at Xerox India in 1989, five years after which he moved to Canon India. He was promoted to Canon Singapore as a Senior Marketing Manager for South and Southeast Asia.

After his stint at Canon, he held leadership positions at IBM and Jamcracker, Inc. He then moved on to HP Enterprises where he was the country leader for HPE FUTURE Cities. He also worked at Cisco as the Director and Leader for Digital Transformation and Dimension data. Rao was an alumnus of Bangalore University and also held an MBA in marketing and finance from Manipal University.

Rao was a big supporter of open source technology. While in a conversation with Open Source For You a few years back, he said, “India has an enviable pool of open source skills and global grade talent, which are being leveraged across the globe. Having said that, I would add that we could play a more attractive role in contributing to the open-source community. ”

Huge loss to the tech industry

“As FOSS continues to leapfrog into the realm of mainstream adoption, there is an ever-increasing demand for FOSS professionals. The future is full of opportunities and it pays to get oneself equipped with open source tech knowledge.”

Rao had spoken as a Cloud Evangelist at several Open Source India events. He was known to be a very engaging orator who could explain the most complex issues in a simple manner and leave the audience mesmerised.

Kaustabh Chandra, Director – Marketing & Digital Sales Group (DSG), India, NTT Ltd wrote in a LinkedIn post, “He was a born fighter and fought the battle with stomach cancer till the end and left for his heavenly abode last night. It’s a huge loss to the tech industry and to the NTT Ltd. family. He will always be remembered as someone very warm, extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and genuine, who left a very positive impact on everyone he interacted with. He was grace, poise, class and all things wonderful personified.”
