In today’s world, companies are looking for skilled employees who have a good knowledge of cloud platforms and the implementation of DevOps practices. Organisations are in a race to hire skilled people who understand the importance of processes, and can work on multiple tools and technologies. This series of articles will outline popular certifications that can help you further your career. The first part lists and briefly describes six DevOps certifications offered by the DevOps Institute and two by Coursera.

DevOps and cloud certification is a good way to demonstrate your skills in a highly competitive market. It may be argued that it is knowledge and not a document that helps one enter and move up in an organisation. However, a certification from a validated authority makes you confident and offers you more opportunities in an organisation or on LinkedIn. Certifications are also recognised during annual appraisals in many companies.

In part one of this article series, we will take a quick look at some of the popular DevOps certifications from the DevOps Institute and from Coursera, which can be useful for different levels of skillsets.

DevOps Institute: DevOps Foundation®

It covers different aspects such as systems thinking, feedback loops, continuous improvement, loosely coupled architecture and teams, managing risk, and dealing with unplanned work. It also covers strategies to manage and monitor the work as well as keep it organised, and maintain a high level of quality by following DevOps practices.

Coursera: Continuous Delivery and DevOps
The Continuous Delivery and DevOps course helps individuals to be aware about DevOps disciplines and gain knowledge of both technical and managerial skills. It helps to cultivate a continuous deployment culture and capability in an organisation.
