Appwrite, an open-source, Backend-as-a-Service platform that provides developers
with all the core tools for building any modern software on development platforms announced it has raised $10m across two seed rounds. It has been led Bessemer Venture Partners and Flybridge, with participation of Ibex Investors and Seedcamp, along with Uri Boness, the Founder of Elastic, and James Lindenbaum, the founder of Heroku as individual investors.

The company is said to allow developers to build secure applications faster than ever and provides an experience focused on developers’ joy. With complexity piling up in the software world, the company said it has become a crucial abstraction layer that allows developers to focus on their products, innovation, and the challenges of the future.

Appwrite has planned to expand its BaaS offering by bridging the gap between advanced cloud services and developer experience. “We’ll continue to provide developers with all the modern cloud technologies with easy-to-use APIs to create awesome dev experiences,” the company said in a statement.

The company is working on releasing Appwrite 1.0 and the upcoming Appwrite Cloud. It is said to introduce new capabilities to its database, storage, auth, and functions services.

It is one of the fastest-growing open source projects on GitHub today, with more than 40,000 developers joining the community in just over three months and more than 250 maintainers globally.
