Miami-based Flamingo has launched OpenFrame, an AI-driven open source platform designed to free managed service providers from costly vendor lock-ins while boosting margins and efficiency.
Flamingo, a Miami-based startup, has launched from stealth with OpenFrame, an AI-powered open-source platform designed to transform the $380 billion Managed Service Provider (MSP) industry. Merging autonomous AI agents with open source infrastructure, OpenFrame aims to free MSPs from vendor dependency and dramatically improve profitability. Over 1,000 MSPs have already joined the waitlist, representing 3% of the market, with more than 150 early adopters testing the system via Flamingo’s active Slack community.
The MSP industry is constrained by razor-thin 8–12% net margins, burdened by vendor fees and repetitive labour costs each consuming up to 35% of revenue. Flamingo’s OpenFrame directly addresses both by integrating open source flexibility with AI automation to create a scalable, transparent, and cost-effective model.
OpenFrame’s two AI agents, Fae and Mingo, handle everything from client-side tasks such as password resets and disk alerts to core MSP operations including threat detection and maintenance. Both operate autonomously but require technician approval for sensitive actions, maintaining a crucial balance between automation and oversight.
“MSPs are paying twice for the same problem: once to vendors and again to technicians. OpenFrame fixes both: open source cuts the vendor tax, and AI eliminates repetitive work,” said Michael Assraf, CEO and Founder of Flamingo.
The platform is available as a free self-hosted version or as a managed service with per-device pricing. Backed by $2.2 million in pre-seed funding from Focal VC and Array VC, Flamingo is expanding its team to meet growing demand as it positions open source as the new foundation for MSP innovation.
