Codenotary has joined Anthropic’s Claude for OSS programme to accelerate development of its open source immudb database, using AI to improve code quality while retaining rigorous human oversight for every release.

Codenotary has been accepted into Anthropic’s Claude for OSS programme to accelerate development of immudb, its open source immutable database. The company will use Claude to improve engineering quality, scalability, performance, backward compatibility, concurrency and security while maintaining human control over every code change.

Rather than acting as an autonomous developer, Claude is being deployed as an engineering assistant across the software development lifecycle. It helps detect subtle software defects, analyse complex execution paths, identify race conditions, generate candidate patches, create regression and unit tests, review pull requests, improve technical documentation, identify dead code and verify that changes do not introduce regressions.

“Modern AI isn’t replacing open source developers – it’s making experienced engineers dramatically more effective,” said Dennis Zimmer, Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder, Codenotary. “Claude helps our team identify subtle bugs, reason across complex code paths, generate regression tests, review pull requests, and accelerate routine engineering work. Every line of code is still reviewed and approved by our engineers, but AI allows us to spend more time on architecture, security, and innovation.”

Codenotary said every AI-generated contribution continues to undergo rigorous human review, automated testing, reproducible builds and established quality assurance before release.

immudb provides cryptographically verifiable, tamper-evident records used to secure software supply chains, compliance systems, financial records, digital evidence and AI workloads. It is already used by hundreds of organisations, including banks, governments and defence organisations.
