Trezor launches the Safe 7, a fully open source, quantum-ready hardware wallet featuring the world’s first transparent secure element.
Trezor, the pioneer of open source hardware wallets and part of SatoshiLabs, has launched Trezor Safe 7, its next-generation device priced at $249 (€249). Now open for pre-order, the Safe 7 introduces the world’s first transparent and auditable secure element, TROPIC01, along with a quantum-ready architecture and open-source firmware, setting a new benchmark for transparent, future-proof crypto protection.
Unlike proprietary secure elements, TROPIC01 allows the community to fully inspect, verify, and validate its design — addressing long-standing concerns around opaque, closed hardware security. The quantum-ready bootloader ensures the wallet can receive post-quantum updates, keeping it resilient as blockchain networks evolve.
“Our goal is to protect digital freedom with tools that are secure, usable, and transparent,” said Tomáš Sušanka, CTO at Trezor. “Combining quantum-readiness with TROPIC01 sets a new standard for open, future-proof security.”
Matěj Žák, CEO at Trezor, added, “Trezor Safe 7 is our answer to convenience-driven custody models — a fully auditable, dual-chip, wireless design that embodies transparency, usability, and trust without compromise.”
Built with an anodised aluminium unibody, Gorilla Glass protection, and a 2.5” colour touchscreen, Safe 7 supports Bluetooth Low Energy, Qi2 wireless charging, and integrates with the open source Trezor Host Protocol.
The launch, showcased at Trustless by Design in Prague, cements Trezor’s mission to merge open source transparency with self-custody, reinforcing user control in a post-quantum era.
