Amazon Web Services has expanded its Marketplace to support transactions in Indian Rupees, allowing local technology providers and enterprises to buy and sell software with simpler billing, tax compliance, and faster procurement—marking a key step in strengthening India’s cloud and digital economy.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its AWS Marketplace in India, allowing customers and technology providers to buy and sell software and services directly in Indian Rupees (INR). The move aims to streamline local procurement, improve tax compliance, and boost access to digital solutions as India’s enterprise tech sector accelerates cloud adoption.

With the update, Indian software vendors and consulting partners can now list and transact in INR—removing earlier dependencies on foreign billing systems. The expansion also allows customers to benefit from local invoicing, simplified payments, and transparent billing, while retaining the centralized management and security controls already built into AWS Marketplace.

More than a dozen technology firms—Cisco, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, eMudhra, Freshworks, Gupshup.ai, IBM, Kore.ai, Palo Alto Networks, Redington, Salesforce, Sarvam, Sonata Software, and VideoCX.io—are among the first to list offerings for INR transactions. Enterprises such as Swiggy, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Observe.AI are already leveraging AWS Marketplace to manage procurement and governance across multiple cloud services.

The Marketplace currently features over 30,000 transactable listings across 70+ software categories, including Security, AI tools, DevOps, and Data Analytics. According to a Forrester study cited by AWS, companies using the Marketplace achieve a 377% return on investment, 70% faster discovery times, and 60% shorter procurement cycles.

AWS executives said the change aligns with India’s fast-evolving digital economy. The platform now connects Indian innovators with domestic enterprise buyers, creating a scalable route to market. As AI adoption accelerates, AWS Marketplace has also started supporting listings for AI agents and developer tools, broadening its appeal to next-generation startups. For Indian technology providers, the localized marketplace represents a significant channel to expand reach without regulatory friction, while customers gain faster access to compliant, enterprise-ready software.
