Red Hat launches Confirmed Sovereign Support for the European Union, delivering EU-citizen-driven assistance built entirely on open source principles.

Red Hat has introduced Confirmed Sovereign Support across all 27 member states of the European Union, reinforcing the region’s pursuit of digital sovereignty through an open source-first framework. Scheduled for availability in early 2026, the offering delivers EU-citizen-driven technical support operated entirely within EU borders, ensuring verifiable local control over critical IT operations.

Designed to meet the rising demand for operational independence, the model addresses key European priorities of data protection, compliance, jurisdictional security, and AI-driven innovation. It enables EU organisations to strengthen resilience and transparency while reducing dependence on non-EU hyperscalers.

Key features include dedicated EU-citizen staffing, localised operational control, 24/7 in-region availability, and an ecosystem of over 500 EU cloud partners, many already offering sovereign clouds. The solution also underpins Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud and AI portfolios, supporting independent deployment and management across sovereign environments.

Red Hat underscores that open source is the only credible foundation for digital sovereignty, providing transparency, auditability, and regulatory trust, advantages that proprietary systems cannot match.

“Digital sovereignty means keeping control over your own technology destiny,” said Chris Wright, CTO and Senior Vice President, Global Engineering, Red Hat. “Navigating the EU’s stringent frameworks demands an open source-driven, auditable foundation.”

“This offering underscores Red Hat’s commitment to empowering EU organisations to own their digital destiny,” added Hans Roth, Senior Vice President & General Manager EMEA, Red Hat.

With this initiative, Red Hat expands its decade-long commitment to open hybrid cloud innovation, trusted by more than 20,000 organisations worldwide.
