Nokia And Airtel Open Network APIs For Developers To Build AI And 5G Services

Bharti Airtel and Nokia have partnered to offer network APIs to developers, enabling new digital services and unlocking innovation across AI, 5G, and edge computing.

Nokia has partnered with Bharti Airtel to make the operator’s network capabilities accessible to third-party developers, marking a significant step towards open innovation in telecom. Airtel will provide access to its network APIs on a subscription basis through Nokia’s Network as Code platform, enabling developers, system integrators, and enterprises to build next-generation digital services and applications.

The collaboration leverages Airtel’s pan-India network capabilities, including AI, 5G, and edge computing, and aims to unlock new use cases across multiple industry verticals while generating additional revenue streams for both companies.

Network APIs allow operators to virtualise parts of their networks and securely offer specific features or data to developers, helping create tailored applications and services. Nokia’s platform already includes more than 60 partners, spanning telecom operators, AI and data centre players, CPaaS providers, system integrators, and software vendors.

Sharat Sinha, CEO, Airtel Business, said, “We are happy to partner with Nokia today for network APIs and enable the ecosystem to leverage our network capabilities for automation and building secure and innovative digital services.”

Arvind Khurana, Head of Cloud and Network Services, Nokia India, added, “Our partnership with Airtel represents a significant step in expanding the Network as Code ecosystem. It demonstrates our commitment to helping telecommunications providers monetise their network investments while fostering innovation in the developer community.”
