Open Source Collaboration Drives Embedded And IoT Innovation At Embedded World 2026 As Eclipse Foundation Showcases Next-Generation Ecosystem

Eclipse Foundation will spotlight how vendor-neutral open source is enabling secure, scalable embedded and IoT systems at embedded world 2026, alongside releasing its 2025 IoT and Embedded Developer Survey.

Eclipse Foundation will showcase the growing role of open source in embedded systems and IoT development at embedded world 2026, taking place March 10–12 in Nuremberg, Germany. Exhibiting at Hall 4, Booth 4-554, the organisation will present a broad portfolio of technologies spanning industrial IoT, automotive software, edge AI, real-time operating systems, and regulatory-aligned software development.

The demonstrations will highlight how vendor-neutral open source collaboration is enabling secure, scalable, and interoperable embedded solutions across industries.

Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director, Eclipse Foundation, said, “Open source is driving the next generation of embedded and IoT innovation. From silicon and real-time operating systems to AI-enabled development tools and software-defined vehicles, open collaboration enables secure, interoperable technologies that industries worldwide can adopt with confidence.”

Key initiatives on display include collaboration with OpenHW Foundation and the Eclipse ThreadX project for open source innovation across silicon, processor architectures, and real-time operating systems. Other highlights include AI-enabled open development tools, the Software Defined Vehicle initiative advancing next-generation automotive architectures, and the Open Regulatory Compliance initiative supporting readiness for evolving cybersecurity regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act.

Member companies Eurotech and Codethink will also present demonstrations. Eurotech will showcase enterprise-grade Edge AIoT solutions for industrial deployments, while Codethink will present its Trust Evidence initiative focused on software assurance for safety-critical systems.

Robert Andres, Head of Partner Ecosystem at Eurotech, said, “We’re excited to join the Eclipse Foundation booth at Embedded World 2026. It provides the perfect occasion to demonstrate that ‘secure, enterprise-grade’ and ‘open source’ are not a contradiction.”
John Ellis, President & Head of Product at Codethink, added, “Embedded systems don’t just need code that runs, they need software you can prove.”

Alongside the showcase, the Foundation will release its 2025 IoT and Embedded Developer Survey, examining regulatory complexity, supply chain disruptions, developer preferences, and the expanding role of open source in security, compliance, and digital sovereignty.

Representatives will also discuss these findings during conference sessions moderated by Frédéric Desbiens, Head of IoT and Embedded Solutions at the Eclipse Foundation.
