The latest Ubuntu OS for Raspberry Pi is now available. Linux developer Arne Exton was prompt in developing a new RaspEX version based on Debian Jessie, Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) and Linaro for both the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 computers. RaspEX Build 161019 can be installed on Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 single-board computers.

According to the official announcement, Arne Exton has integrated Linux kernel 4.4.21 in the latest RaspEX Build 161019. The new version also brings Wicd Network Manager, Samba and VNC4Server. Additionally, Exton has replaced Chromium with Mozilla’s Firefox browser as it has better YouTube streaming experience.

The fresh RaspEX uses Samba and VNC4Server to let you control your Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 from a Windows computer in Home network using VNC viewer or PuTTY client. There are also some extra network tools as well as SMTube for YouTube browsing, Midori Private Browser and a new PulseAudio.

The newly added LXDE desktop environment will boost performance on Raspberry Pi-powered devices. You can install RaspEX on your Raspberry Pi by creating bootable MicroSD card. Also, you can download the build from its official website.
