Meet Red Hat Innovation Awards 2026’s Four Winners
The Red Hat Innovation Awards 2026, under the theme ‘Unlock what’s next ’, recognise 32 organisations across Asia Pacific that use technology to make a real difference. Here is how Japan’s four winners are doing it:
- JAL Digital: The company reduced the time needed to get development projects started from 165 days to just 30 minutes using Red Hat OpenShift and Developer Hub. It is also using automation to prepare for broader AI adoption.
- SoftBank: It is working to bring AI and telecom network operations together on shared infrastructure through its AITRAS project. It is also contributing to the open-source Open Cluster Management Project.
- Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company: The company launched its PassCase mobility app in June 2026 after improving the way its teams develop software. Now, it is working on a new platform to support AI services.
- TOYOTA INDUSTRIES IT SOLUTIONS: The company expects to move around 100 systems to Red Hat OpenShift 2030. The move is planned to help it shift more of its IT budget towards new services and improvements, increasing that share from 10% to 50%
The businesses need technology that can keep pace with change, as they are adopting AI rapidly. Open source technology gives them more choice and flexibility, whereas Red Hat tools provide them with help teams work and free up resources for new ideas.
The bigger picture? It is not about following the latest tech trends but using it to make everyday work easier and move forward to help businesses flourish.
