Red Hat JBoss EAP 7 released to support hybrid cloud applications

Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 Cloud Suite

Red Hat JBoss EAP 7

Red Hat announced the release of its JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7 at the Red Hat Summit 2016 in San Francisco. The new platform, known as Red Hat JBoss EAP 7, is aimed “to bridge current and future development paradigms” and to support hybrid cloud applications through a set of new technologies.

The original Red Hat JBoss EAP was designed to bring open source closer to the enterprise world. Its new version comes with the same focus but uses some new technologies to support DevOps development practices. The platform now has the widely deployed Java EE APIs as well as Red Hat’s JBoss Developer Studio and JBoss Core Services Collection.

“Organisations should be able to choose when and how they move to new architectures and programming paradigms. This freedom is a hallmark of open source and something we embrace at Red Hat. With JBoss EAP 7, we are addressing the needs of both enterprise IT and developers with a balanced vision designed to bridge the reality of building and maintaining a business today with the aspiration of IT innovation tomorrow,” says Mike Piech, VP and GM of Middleware, Red Hat.

JBoss EAP 7 has JBoss Core Services Collection that provides developers with some common foundational building blocks to develop new enterprise applications. Additionally, there are management and monitoring capabilities for existing applications and services. The Collection package includes Red Hat JBoss Operations Network, Apache HTTP server and a sign-on server.

‘New milestone’

Red Hat considers its JBoss EAP 7 as a “new milestone”. This would help the open source solution provider extend its present product portfolio and attract more partners. Likewise, the platform advances the existing experience with new application approaches like containers and microservice architectures.

The newly launched JBoss EAP is available for download to the members of the Red Hat Developers community. Existing platform model can be updated to the latest one directly through Red Hat customer portal.
