Redis Labs announced that the new fully integrated tiers of Redis Enterprise on Microsoft Azure Cache for Redis have been made available in public preview. It said that the new Redis Enterprise tiers bring advanced functionality to Azure Cache, benefiting Azure-based customers like BioCatch, who are already leveraging Redis Enterprise for improved developer productivity and enhanced operational resiliency with their applications.

Yiftach Shoolman, co-founder and CTO at Redis Labs said, “Today’s release of Redis Enterprise on Azure Cache on Redis gives developers an exciting preview of the applications they will be able to build using this service. Through our joint development with Microsoft, we’ve created a truly unique, native managed service that will enable enterprises in building real-time applications over the Redis Enterprise tiers. We’re most excited to already see our joint customers expand their Redis use cases through modules, achieving better service-level agreements with Azure Multi-AZ deployments and extremely attractive total cost of ownership with Redis on Flash, and only expect this to grow among Azure developers in the public preview.”

Access to Redis 6.0

The new Enterprise tiers offer developers expanded use cases to leverage the performance of Redis, security, and an attractive total cost of ownership. The Enterprise tiers are natively integrated with Azure portal and billing systems, allowing Azure customers to consume Redis Enterprise like any other Azure Cache tier and using their existing commit to Azure.

It said that Azure customers will have access to Redis 6.0, the most recent release offering new security and operational capabilities and 99.99 availability with Azure’s Multi-AZ deployment. They will also have access to scaling to multi-terabyte datasets with up to 70 per cent memory cost reduction with Redis on Flash’s intelligent memory tiering.

The new with Redis modules include RediSearch that enables users to seamlessly index, query, and search in their existing Redis datasets at the speed of Redis. It also includes RedisTimeSeries that allows for real-time monitoring, filtering and IoT use cases with native integration with Grafana and RedisBloom that includes a set of probabilistic data-structures to support use cases like ad-serving, authentication, and leaderboards with a fraction of the memory footprint.

Julia Liuson, corporate vice president, Developer Division at Microsoft said, “The public preview of Redis Enterprise on Azure Cache for Redis is an exciting milestone for our collaboration with Redis Labs, and our commitment to offer customers choice and flexibility. We’re pleased customers have already seen the benefits of this unique integration which is designed to give their applications unbeatable responsiveness and scale, while maintaining mission-critical uptime and reliability.”
