Percona and HexaCluster have partnered to simplify enterprise migration from proprietary databases to open source platforms, helping organisations reduce costs, avoid vendor lock-in and accelerate PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB adoption.
Percona has partnered with HexaCluster to help enterprises migrate from proprietary and legacy commercial databases to open source alternatives, combining migration expertise, automation and long-term support to reduce the cost and complexity of database modernisation.
The collaboration pairs Percona’s migration assessment, consulting and production support with HexaCluster’s PostgreSQL migration automation and database modernisation tools. Together, the companies aim to help organisations move to open source databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB Community while avoiding expensive licence renewals and vendor lock-in.
The partnership is designed to make enterprise adoption of open source databases easier through assessment-led migration planning, automation and ongoing operational support. Customers are expected to benefit from lower licensing and support costs, reduced migration risk, easier transitions from legacy platforms and greater control over their data infrastructure without replacing one form of vendor lock-in with another.
Migration engagements begin with a Percona-led assessment to confirm project scope, identify source-to-target migration paths and minimise operational disruption before implementation. HexaCluster contributes tooling for heterogeneous, mixed-source and multi-target database migrations.
“This partnership expands our portfolio to help organizations address steep proprietary database renewal costs and migration risks. Percona now simplifies the transition by leading assessment, planning, and automated heterogeneous migrations through a single team from evaluation to go-live. The result is lower-risk cost reduction without new vendor lock-in,” said Louis Hood, Director of Global Partnerships and Channel at Percona.
“We’ve spent years building Migration and Modernization tools that move complex workloads onto PostgreSQL. Partnering with Percona puts that work in front of the organizations that need it most, backed by a team that supports these databases in production every day,” said Avinash Vallarapu, CEO of HexaCluster.
