The open-source “Do Not Disturb” gadget brings Flipper’s retro aesthetic to your workspace, automatically blocking digital distractions and syncing with your smart home.

Flipper Devices, the creators of the Flipper Zero, has announced The Busy Bar, an open-source “Do-Not-Disturb” desk gadget designed to minimise workplace distractions. Launched on 29 June 2026, the device officially goes on sale and begins shipping on 14 July 2026.

According to Flipper’s hardware ethos, it features fully open-source firmware and a local open API, allowing offline developer customisation without cloud lock-in. It is also Matter-certified, dropping natively into assistants like Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Home Assistant smart ecosystems.

The device adopts a retro aesthetic with toy-like physical inputs. A larger, front-facing 72×16 RGB LED matrix screen displays status alerts, such as “On Call” or “Busy” to co-workers or family, while a smaller rear-facing monochrome OLED display mirrors active Pomodoro countdowns and battery tracking to the user. It features three physical inputs: a mechanical Start/Pause button, a dial knob to adjust focus timers, and a mode switch to toggle layouts.

Focus mode can be activated manually or automated to trigger when joining a video call, recording audio, or opening workspace apps. When active, the paired software ecosystem mutes phone notifications, blocks distracting apps, and fires smart home automations—like turning an office door light red.

The Busy App companion ecosystem natively supports macOS, iOS, Android, and watchOS, with Windows compatibility arriving later in 2026. The unit operates via a standard USB connection or Wi-Fi 6, powered by a 3,250 mAh battery offering eight hours of active use. The Busy Bar retails at $249, but Flipper is offering an early-bird price of $199 for the first 3,000 waitlist orders.
