Red Hat has recognised four Indian organisations for their pioneering use of open source to modernise banking and connectivity systems.

Red Hat has announced the India winners of the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2025, celebrating organisations that have applied open source technologies to drive transformation, scalability, and meaningful digital impact. Under the theme “Unlock what’s next,” the awards recognise 30 winners across the region, including four from India: Indian Bank, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), Unity Small Finance Bank, and State Bank of India (SBI).

Indian Bank was recognised in the Cloud Native Development category for building India’s first private cloud by a public sector bank using Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus. This foundation supports mission-critical banking services and accelerates the rollout of secure digital capabilities.

Ashutosh Choudhury, Executive Director, Indian Bank, said: “At Indian Bank, our goal has been to build a modern, scalable foundation that can keep pace with the rapid evolution of digital banking. By working with Red Hat, we have gained the agility to scale resources efficiently, improve visibility across our systems, and deliver more reliable digital experiences for our customers.”

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) received recognition for Digital Transformation and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure through an open hybrid cloud approach that enhances operational agility.

Anvize Rodrigues, CIO, TTSL, said: “Our collaboration with Red Hat is a key step in transitioning to a unified, open hybrid cloud foundation that brings speed, resilience, and innovation at scale.”

Unity Small Finance Bank and State Bank of India were also honoured for advancing digital banking through open, cloud-native platforms that improve reach, resilience, and service innovation across India’s financial ecosystem.
