Tata Elxsi and GSMA have partnered to accelerate enterprise API adoption using open source standardised network APIs.
Tata Elxsi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GSM Association (GSMA) under the GSMA Fusion initiative to fast-track enterprise API adoption and enable mobile operators to monetise their networks through standardised, interoperable APIs. The partnership centres on a Global Statement of Requirements that supports telecom operators in delivering enterprise-ready digital services across sectors such as automotive, industrial, healthcare, and entertainment.
A key focus in the initial phase will be the automotive and drone industries, leveraging emerging network capabilities including Quality on Demand (QoD), location verification, and network security enhancements. These APIs are being standardised through the GSMA Open Gateway framework and the CAMARA open-source project, ensuring cross-operator interoperability and reducing integration complexity for developers and enterprises.
Tata Elxsi’s involvement aligns with its AI First Telco strategy, which seeks to help operators move beyond traditional connectivity into high-value enterprise service ecosystems. The collaboration positions Tata Elxsi as a central enabler in the shift toward programmable, API-centric networks.
Industry forecasts indicate that the global network API market is expected to grow from $1.96 billion in 2025 to $6.13 billion by 2030, driven by enterprise digital transformation and the expansion of 5G networks.
“This collaborative effort is a strategic offering to help telcos transform their value proposition for the future,” said Rajagopalan Rajappa, Chief Technology Officer – Communication Technologies & Platforms, Tata Elxsi.
“We look forward to working with Tata Elxsi through the GSMA Open Gateway initiative,” added Paresh Modi, Senior Director, GSMA Fusion.
