Parrot Security OS, better known as “an ethical hacking OS”, has received an update to version 3.3. This new release brings Linux kernel 4.8 as well as includes various bug fixes, improved core components and hacking tools.

Upgrading the previous kernel, Parrot Security OS 3.3 has offered Linux 4.8 to help ethical hackers easily perform their penetration testing and security assessments. Additionally, the operating system has now switched entirely to PHP 7 and GCC 6.2.

Although the latest update has significantly enhanced some core kernel files, it is considered just as a “working snapshot” of something bigger in the pipeline. This suggests some major new changes through Parrot Security OS 3.4.

“This release is not a definitive goal, it is just a working snapshot of the bigger work we are doing for Parrot 3.4 that will be released very soon,” the Parrot Security OS team writes in a blog post.

Alongside the two notable changes, Parrot Security OS 3.3 brings a version update to its popular penetration testing software Metasploit. The company has also fixed all the major and minor bugs reported by v3.2 users. Besides, there are some bug fixes in MATE desktop environment and tweaks to improve experience around multi-touch and touchpad experience.

You can download Parrot OS 3.3 from its official site today. A GitHub repository is available to provide you its source code and necessary documentation.
