As new donors step-in, the founder exits!

As per the blog on the official site of OpenAI, one of the co-founder Elon Musk will depart the OpenAI Board but will continue to donate and advise the organization. He has co-founded the organisation with Y-Combinator CEO Sam Altman in late 2015.
In the blog post where Musk’s departure was announced along with the list of new donors for the organization. OpenAI is a nonprofit organization.
“Elon Musk will depart the OpenAI Board but will continue to donate and advise the organization,” the announcement reads. “As Tesla continues to become more focused on AI, this will eliminate a potential future conflict for Elon.”
Shared the strategy of the organisation, blog also highlighted, “We’re broadening our base of funders to prepare for the next phase of OpenAI, which will involve ramping up our investments in our people and the compute resources necessary to make consequential breakthroughs in artificial intelligence.”
The organisation was founded a little over two years ago and since that time they’ve paired their research efforts with applied work to push the limits of what AI systems are capable of via robotics and Dota. “That’s going to continue, and in the coming months you can also expect us to articulate the principles with which we’ll be approaching the next phase of OpenAI, and the policy areas in which we wish to see changes to ensure AI benefits all of humanity,” blog also mentioned.    Read more…
