Following the dismissal of Sam Altman, The Information reported, Microsoft, the primary investor in OpenAI, is contemplating a position on the board of the ChatGPT developer. Despite attempts by company executives to reinstate him, Sam Altman will not resume his role as the CEO of OpenAI, according to The Information report. Emmett Shear, co-founder of the video streaming platform Twitch, is set to step in as the interim CEO, as mentioned by Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder and board director of OpenAI, in the report.

Following his unexpected dismissal, Sam Altman was reportedly in talks about a potential return to the company, known for its ChatGPT bot, while also contemplating the launch of a new artificial intelligence (AI) venture. He was in discussions with OpenAI executives to enhance the company’s governance structure.

Altman is exploring the feasibility of establishing a new AI company with some of OpenAI’s key researchers and others who are supportive of his vision. The situation regarding Altman’s potential comeback or the initiation of a new venture remains uncertain and is still developing.

Greg Brockman, the former President of OpenAI who announced his resignation following Sam Altman’s firing, is anticipated to be part of any new endeavor that may emerge from this situation. Several researchers, including Szymon Sidor, have resigned from the company. However, it remains uncertain if Sidor and others who left will participate in a potential new venture led by Altman.
