An open-source AI meeting assistant records conversations, generates summaries, and stores notes locally while allowing users to choose their preferred AI models.
Anarlog is a free and open source AI assistant that can record, transcribe, and summarise meetings without requiring an internet connection. Anarlog records meeting audio without adding any bot in the meeting. Additionally, Anarlog stores the transcripts as Markdown files on the user’s device. The open nature of Anarlog allows users to choose the AI model they want to use for summarisation.
Some of the AI models supported by Anarlog include OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, Ollama, and LM Studio. When used with local inference engines such as Ollama and LM Studio, both transcription and summarisation can be performed entirely locally, without any cloud-based computation.
By storing notes as Markdown files, Anarlog allows users to view, edit, search and organise meeting records using any text editor. Moreover, these Markdown files can be synchronised using iCloud, Dropbox, Syncthing, or Git, allowing users to retain ownership of their meeting history without relying on proprietary platforms.
As per the documentation available for the project, Anarlog doesn’t ask for users to have an account nor provides any tracking facility. The software is distributed under the MIT licence, allowing developers to view, modify, and distribute its source code, making it suitable for organisations seeking greater transparency.
Although the main development team is now focused on another project, the developers have stated that Analog continues to be maintained. Recent updates indicate that Anarlog remains as an open-source meeting assistant with a strong emphasis on privacy and local data storage.
