MongoDB appoints Richard Scott to lead its APJ strategy as enterprises move AI into production, while expanding its developer and community efforts, including a plan to upskill 2 million developers in India by 2030.
MongoDB has appointed Richard Scott as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), as enterprises across the region move from AI experimentation to production deployments. Based in Sydney, Scott will lead the company’s regional strategy and expansion.
Scott brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience. He previously served as Senior Vice President for APJ at Salesforce and held senior leadership roles at Informatica, Microsoft, SAP, and IBM.
MongoDB is positioning its data platform for production AI applications through real-time data, vector search, hybrid search, Voyage AI embeddings, and reranking. The company says bringing these capabilities together can help enterprises and developers reduce complexity, improve application accuracy, and accelerate development.
MongoDB has more than 1,200 employees and thousands of customers across APJ. It opened an office in Kuala Lumpur in May and plans to open one in Tokyo in September, while expanding engineering teams in India and Australia.
India is also a key part of its developer and community push. MongoDB for Academia announced plans in June to upskill 2 million developers in India by 2030 in data and AI skills.
