A new end-to-end security framework tailored for AI data centers, combining ASIC-powered performance with advanced protection for large language models and GPU-driven workloads.
Fortinet has introduced the Secure AI Data Center solution, billed as the industry’s first comprehensive security framework purpose-built for artificial intelligence workloads. The solution is designed to protect every layer of the AI ecosystem—from data pipelines and GPU clusters to large language models (LLMs)—while minimizing power consumption and maintaining ultra-low latency.
At the core of this framework is the FortiGate 3800G, a new high-performance data center firewall built for AI-scale environments. Powered by Fortinet’s NP7 and SP5 ASICs and offering 400 GbE connectivity, the FortiGate 3800G delivers hyperscale throughput and energy efficiency tailored for compute-intensive AI workloads.
The key features are:
- Delivers 400 GbE connectivity with high power efficiency—up to 69% lower energy use than traditional firewalls.
- Guards against prompt injection, data leakage, and model misuse across hybrid and cloud deployments.
- Provides real-time defense for high-density GPU environments and large-scale AI workloads.
- Enables zero-trust architecture with optimized throughput and reduced energy per Gbps.
- Prevents code injection, tampering, and data theft through multi-layer traffic inspection.
- Simplifies audit processes and supports evolving global AI security standards.
The Secure AI Data Center framework integrates multiple security layers, addressing both performance and protection challenges faced by AI operators. Its capabilities include ASIC-accelerated network segmentation, model-level threat defense, and quantum-safe encryption. The solution also incorporates Security Fabric, which unifies firewalling, application protection, and AI runtime controls under a single management plane—simplifying compliance and reducing operational overhead for enterprises deploying large-scale AI systems.
A key focus area is LLM protection, safeguarding against prompt injection, data leakage, and unauthorized model access. By inspecting and controlling data flows to and from AI models, the company’s approach establishes policy-based “guardrails” across local, hybrid, and cloud environments. The system embeds Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) to help enterprises future-proof sensitive AI data against emerging quantum-era threats.
This move reflects a growing demand for secure, scalable AI infrastructure as organizations expand AI workloads into production. The Secure AI Data Center solution positions Fortinet at the intersection of networking, cybersecurity, and AI acceleration—addressing the twin priorities of resilience and efficiency in next-generation data centers.
