Lush Launches Open Source Point-Of-Sale System

According to a report by Glossy, UK based cosmetics company Lush has launched an open-source point-of-sale (POS) system to help the company control more of its business. The report said that the new POS system will offer functionalities of previous systems, like email receipts bu will also have new features like buying online and picking up in-store or ordering online and paying in-store.

The report also said that the new POS will allow the company to get a clear view of sales in each shop and live sales information. It will also let manufacturing receive up-to-date stock management reports. As per the report, for the hardware, Lush wanted tofocus on durability and ability to take apart and replace parts easily.

Increase the speed of checkout

As per the report, another benefit of this POS will be to increase the speed of checkout as the system will be able to easily handle the volume of new launches online and individual brick-and-mortar exclusives. Adam Goswell, Lush’s technology research and development manager said that since Lush is not a tech company, being open-source meant that improvement could be possible without investing in software engineers.
