Wipro Signs MoU with MTC, Oman To Open CoE For Open Source

According to a report by Business Standard, Wipro and the Ministry of Technology and Communications (MTC), a government authority of the Sultanate of Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to open a Center of Excellence (CoE) for open source. The report said that under the MoU, Wipro and MTC will collaborate to build, deploy and sustain teh CoE and speed up the adoption of open source technologies in the public and private sectors of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

Specialists in open source

As per the report, the CoE will focus on creating a talent base of information and communication technology (ICT) graduates who will be specialists in open source capabilities. The collaboration will also provide training and skill development programs. The report also said that the CoE will encourage co-innovation by collaborating with local and regional industries in Oman and contribute to its in-country value (ICV).

Industry 4.0, Cloud Native Architecture

The report also said that Wipro will work with MTC to develop solutions and services by using open source technologies to enable digital transformation, Industry 4.0, legacy modernisation, artificial intelligence and Cloud Native Architecture. The report added that through this MoU, Wipro aims to expand its local presence in Oman and help MTC to achieve its goals of building a digital economy and becoming an powerhouse in IT.
