Cloudflare’s updated Ambassador and Community Engineer alongside an additional $1 million in open-source funding will support global developers and maintainers.
On 7 August 2026, Cloudflare unveiled a refreshed community program featuring two primary tracks: the Ambassadors and Community Engineers.
The Ambassadors track empowers community leaders, such as campus event hosts, content creators, and peer mentors, with platform credits, marketing assets, technical resources, and online recognition. Ambassadors can serve up to two-year terms, with initial applications open through 6 September and selected members notified by 5 October.
The Community Engineers track supports open-source maintainers and contributors building within company’s ecosystem, including projects like Astro, Agents SDK, EmDash, Hono, Vinext, workerd, and quiche. Unlike the Ambassador track, Community Engineers face no maximum term limit. To support these developers, the company committed an additional USD$1 million in grant funding over the next two years, building upon previous open-source investments such as TanStack sponsorships and its USD$1 million Vite community fund from the VoidZero acquisition.
To support its nearly 100,000-member Discord server, Cloudflare is forming a joint staff-and-Ambassador committee while open sourcing its internal automated anti-spam and security tools for the broader ecosystem.
