Around 200 Indian library professionals joined a six-day national workshop by the ILA and HLA to master open source system deployment.
The Indian Library Association (ILA) and the Haryana Library Association (HLA) jointly organised a six-day national online workshop on Open Source Library Management Systems. The six-day online event commenced on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with news reporting originating from Kurukshetra, Haryana. Approximately 200 professionals and participants from various regions across India attended the online workshop.
The primary aim of the workshop was to enhance the professional competencies of library and information professionals through hands-on practical training in deploying and managing open-source library systems.
Prof. Dr. Pardeep Rai, President of the Indian Library Association, praised the HLA’s initiative and emphasised the necessity of effective integrated library management systems in modern libraries.
Dr. Rupesh Gaur, President of the Haryana Library Association, highlighted the importance of open-source software in modernising library workflows, while Dr. Ajay Kumar Arora, General Secretary of HLA, confirmed that both associations plan to hold similar technical workshops in the future.
