Generative AI writes code faster, but pure speed has triggered a reliability crisis. It comes with a heavy cost: auto-scaled bugs, lost context mid-session, and architectural ‘slop’. To fix this, Google has open-sourced the Elephant-Goldfish Model (EGM) plugin under the Apache 2.0 license, shifting the paradigm so that design becomes the true code.

AI can generate code very fast, but it can also cause auto-scaling bugs, context loss, and create a large amount of code ‘slop’. The purpose of increasing speed is pointless if it generates a series of errors. To bring order to this chaotic problem statement, Google has made their Elephant-Goldfish Model (EGM) plugin available to open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

Designing with the Elephant

The Elephant acts as a long-term AI partner holding your entire project design and architectural vision. It follows a strict ‘no code’ policy where it discusses pros and cons, questions assumptions, and makes better feature designs for you before any line of code is written.

Validating with the Goldfish

After the blueprints have been established, new, context-free Goldfish AI entities come in as unbiased reviewers of the blueprint. They inspect the blueprint looking for any loopholes, find hard-to-pin-down edge cases, and ensure everything is clear and defined, giving you code that is ready to use on the very first attempt.

EGM, through the use of the Elephant for macro-level design while the Goldfish works on the micro-details, ensures that AI is transformed from being an unpredictable machine to a dependable companion.
