YubiHSM 2 can be used as a complete cryptographic toolbox for a broad range of commercial and open source applications, spread across different products and services

Yubico, a leading provider of hardware authentication security keys, launched a new open source YubiHSM 2 software development kit (SDK), which is available for engineers and developers to seamlessly implement the YubiHSM 2 for an unlimited number of use cases.

The YubiHSM 2, a hardware security module, provides highest level of security for cryptographic digital key generation, management and storage. It supports a vast range of enterprise applications and environments, in a very cost effective and minimalistic form factor.

Yubico’s latest solution can be used for the secury of cryptographic keys that are stored on servers which are used in cloud server infrastructures, data centers, industrial and manufacturing services.

Help developers to rapidly develop apps

YubiHSM 2 SDK would help the developers in rapidly developing applications, across a variety of platforms and architectures and in easy integration with the YubiHSM 2. For applications that communicate through Public-Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS)#11, the developers can now use SDK for integrating to the YubiHSM 2 and allow all of its security abilities for better protection of cryptographic keys and for conducting a variety of other high security functions.

Commenting on the development, Jerrod Chong, SVP of Product, Yubico, said, “Open sourcing the SDK will help developers build more secure solutions in a rapid fashion. We are always looking at ways to increase usability of our products, while maintaining a high level of trust between Yubico and our user community of developers and security specialists.”

Though the protection of root keys for Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) is a common use case, the YubiHSM 2 can also be used as a complete cryptographic toolbox for a broad range of commercial and open source applications, spread across different products and services.
