Endee Labs has commercialised its Apache 2.0 open-source vector database with a fully managed serverless cloud, giving AI teams benchmark-led performance, rapid deployment, and the freedom to switch to self-hosted environments without code changes.
Endee Labs has launched Endee Cloud, a fully managed, serverless service built around its Apache 2.0-licensed open-source vector database, marking a significant open-source infrastructure commercialisation move for production AI workloads.
The launch brings Endee’s self-hostable engine into a zero-ops managed cloud format for AI search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), recommendation systems, and AI agent memory, while preserving the project’s open-source portability. A major differentiator is the ability for teams to move between Endee Cloud and self-hosted deployments with zero code changes, sharply reducing vendor lock-in concerns and strengthening deployment flexibility.
The full engine remains openly available through GitHub, alongside open documentation and SDKs, ensuring enterprises retain source transparency, deployment control, and migration freedom even while adopting managed infrastructure.
Endee is positioning the cloud launch on benchmark leadership, claiming the highest throughput, highest recall, lowest P99 latency, and lowest cost per query, while delivering a 10x lower infrastructure footprint than rival vector databases including Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus, and Weaviate.
Enterprise-focused capabilities include native hybrid search, dense and sparse retrieval in a single query, payload filtering, auto-scaling, queryable encryption, enterprise SLAs, and SDK support for Python, TypeScript, Java, and Go.
