Percona is narrowing its network to specialized partners who can help businesses manage the high database costs and tracking rules brought on by rapid AI adoption.
The sudden rush to use artificial intelligence has made managing business data much harder. According to Louis Hood, Percona’s director of global partnerships, this trend looks a lot like the early days of cloud computing. Many companies are rushing to build complex AI projects before they have a solid plan for data costs, safety rules, or infrastructure.
As these AI workloads grow, they generate massive amounts of new data. This rapid growth creates heavy compliance burdens, especially regarding regional data laws and system performance. To lower bills and avoid being locked into expensive contracts, companies are switching from proprietary software to open-source database options like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
Because these database migrations are complicated, Percona is changing how it works with its partner network. Instead of signing up as many tech distributors as possible, the company is choosing a small, specific group of cloud providers and software advisors. This allows Percona and its partners to offer deep, long-term technical consulting to keep data affordable and compliant as AI models expand.
