Sinch has expanded its developer ecosystem with the release of Agent Tools, a toolkit that integrates AI-assisted coding environments with its communications platform, making it easier for developers to build, test, and deploy applications from within their preferred IDEs. The release is particularly relevant to the open-source developer community, as it supports widely used editors and AI coding workflows while simplifying access to communication APIs.
The toolkit includes extensions for Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs, and other Open VSX-compatible editors, allowing developers to work within familiar development environments instead of switching between documentation, web portals, and coding tools. By embedding platform resources directly into the editor, Agent Tools streamlines application development and accelerates API integration.
One of its key capabilities is Simulator Mode, which enables developers to test integrations before creating a Sinch account or making live API calls. This sandbox-like approach allows open-source contributors and application developers to prototype communication-enabled software, validate workflows, and experiment with APIs without requiring production credentials.
The toolkit also introduces support for AI coding assistants, including Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT Desktop through an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. This provides AI assistants with access to live API definitions, while Sinch Skills supplies structured implementation guidance, configuration details, and coding patterns. Together, they improve code generation accuracy and reduce dependency on manually searching documentation.
Developers can access structured information for services such as the Conversation API, Authentication, Voice, Verification, Numbers, and Elastic SIP Trunking, enabling rapid integration of messaging, voice, and identity capabilities into applications.
