OAI.co has launched as an open source AI implementation company focused on helping enterprises deploy private LLMs with full data ownership.
OAI.co, an open source AI implementation and development company, has officially launched from Seattle-Tacoma, Washington, with a clear focus on helping enterprises deploy, customise, and operate production-ready open source AI systems and private large language models (LLMs) that they fully own and control.
The launch comes as enterprises increasingly question closed, API-based AI platforms due to cost unpredictability, data governance and compliance risks, vendor lock-in, and limited transparency. OAI.co positions itself as a vendor-neutral implementation partner, enabling organisations to operationalise open source AI and private LLMs across regulated and data-sensitive environments.
“OAI.co exists because the conversation around AI has shifted,” said Nate Nead, CEO of OAI.co. “Enterprises no longer want black-box AI systems they rent without understanding. They want AI infrastructure they can inspect, govern, secure, and adapt to their own workflows. Open-source models and private LLMs make that possible, but only if they’re implemented correctly.”
A core focus of the company is private LLM deployment within on-premises, private cloud, or hybrid environments, ensuring that enterprise data, prompts, embeddings, and model behaviour never leave the organisation’s security perimeter. “The enterprise private LLM is becoming the default requirement, not a luxury,” Nead added.
OAI.co offers end-to-end services spanning architecture design, open-source LLM evaluation and fine-tuning, RAG system design, private vector databases, AI workflow orchestration, and governance frameworks.
“Our clients aren’t looking for demos—they’re looking for systems that work on day one and still work three years from now,” said Eric Lamanna, VP of Sales at OAI.co. “They want predictable costs, ownership, and the freedom to evolve without being locked into a single provider.”
Founded by software development services firm DEV, OAI.co aligns its model with rising regulatory scrutiny and the growing demand for transparent, auditable, and governable AI infrastructure built on open-source foundations.
