Globe Telecom and Nokia are scaling open, standards-based network APIs to enable secure, interoperable digital services, anchored in GSMA frameworks and the Linux Foundation’s Camara open source project.
Globe Telecom Inc. has expanded its alliance with Nokia to accelerate the rollout of open, standards-based network application programming interfaces (APIs) across Globe’s partner and developer ecosystem, reinforcing a shift toward open telecom platforms.
Under the expanded collaboration, Globe will gain access to Nokia’s full portfolio of network APIs through Nokia’s Network Exposure Platform (NEP), a cloud-native and programmable infrastructure designed to streamline API service delivery and support interoperability across diverse network environments.
The partnership builds on Globe’s February 2025 initiative to test Nokia’s NEP for security-focused applications aimed at combating mobile banking fraud. Several banks in the Philippines are now planning to deploy Globe’s Number Verification API, prompting Globe and Nokia to broaden API-driven services beyond banking to other industries.
Network APIs enable enterprises to access deeper network functionality and data, opening new pathways for digital service development. Early use cases are emerging across sectors, including banking, health care, automotive, entertainment and defence.
“Nokia’s open API solutions will empower Globe to rapidly develop and deploy new services, fostering innovation and creating new revenue streams by securely exposing network capabilities to developers and partners,” said Shkumbin Hamiti, Head of Network Monetization Platform at Nokia.
KD Dizon, Vice President and Head of Globe Business, said they were testing how Nokia’s NEP could support banking and enterprise customers with security verification tools amid rising cyberattacks on digital services. He added that advancing network APIs would help foster economic growth, support local innovation and enhance connectivity toward a more digitally inclusive society.
Nokia stated that its Network Exposure Platform aligns with the GSMA Operator Platform. Both companies also contribute to GSMA Open Gateway and the Linux Foundation’s Camara, an open source project focused on defining, developing and testing harmonised network APIs globally.
