Polyend is giving musicians more freedom to customise their instruments with a major open-source release. The new update brings powerful features, improved performance and more creative possibilities for Tracker users.
Polyend Tracker Gets Major Features
Polyend is launching the firmware source code for its Tracker, Tracker+, and Tracker Mini models through GitHub. At the same time, the company introduces the Community Edition 1.0 model, which allows users to customise the firmware, develop a new one, and even distribute it to other people. Users can use their imagination and modify the experience offered by this model as much as possible. In order to protect musicians from damaging the device because of the wrong updates, Polyend has added a recovery system.
Community Edition 1.0 has made several interesting changes. They claim that one can now stream lengthy samples directly from an SD card, record timing and velocity without disabling step FX slots, and use plugins in the Sample Editor. In addition to these updates, it is now possible to find six internal effects and generators, among which are an analogue kick generator and stereo delay. For Tracker+ and Tracker Mini models, there are two new synth engines, CHIP and DIRT. They all have wavetable envelopes, LFOs, fast loading and saving of projects, and better MIDI clock timing. Polyend has also released SDKs to help developers build their own plugins and engines, and a browser tool to create custom themes and fonts.
This update represents a significant milestone for the Tracker community. With the availability of its firmware code, Polyend is allowing musicians and developers to explore innovative possibilities and customise their instruments.
