Solid Joins Snowflake-Led Open Semantic Interchange To Standardise AI Data Context

Solid joined Snowflake’s Open Semantic Interchange to eliminate “semantic drift” by establishing a vendor-neutral metadata standard across AI agents, data warehouses, and BI platforms.

On 24 July 2026, Solid announced it is joining the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI), an open-source, vendor-neutral initiative designed to establish a universal specification for semantic data metadata. Spearheaded by Snowflake alongside ecosystem partners spanning business intelligence (BI), data engineering, AI, governance, financial services, and manufacturing, including Salesforce, dbt Labs, RelationalAI, and BlackRock, the project addresses the operational bottleneck of “semantic drift” as autonomous AI agents deploy alongside traditional analytics platforms.

Solid operates as an AI-native context layer that automatically creates, evaluates, benchmarks, and maintains semantic context for enterprise AI agents and analytics platforms. Unlike legacy semantic layers engineered primarily for static SQL queries and dashboard visualisations, Solid’s platform automates context management tailored specifically for agentic workflows. Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, hosts and leads the OSI specification to ensure unified metric definitions across heterogeneous enterprise data stacks.

The primary objective of the initiative is to standardize fragmented data definitions into a single open format, ensuring business metrics remain consistent across data warehouses, dashboards, notebooks, AI agents, and machine learning models. This approach enables the automated, seamless transfer of semantic context between AI agents and analytics environments without vendor lock-in, allowing enterprise data teams to migrate or integrate platforms without rebuilding complex semantic architectures from scratch.

Yoni Leitersdorf, CEO and Co-Founder of Solid, noted that participation ensures semantic context moves automatically across AI agents and data stores based on a shared, interoperable model, enabling organisations to build reliable AI systems without platform constraints. Josh Klahr, Director of Analytics Product Management at Snowflake, highlighted OSI as a critical foundation for building a unified, vendor-neutral standard for semantic data, ensuring clarity, consistency, and interoperability across the broader enterprise data ecosystem.
