Anthropic strengthens its open source play by funding Blender and enabling Claude to power creative workflows across major tools, reducing manual effort and widening access to advanced design capabilities.
Anthropic has launched nine new connectors for its AI Claude, enabling direct interaction with professional creative tools as part of a strategic push to become the go-to AI for creative professionals.
At the centre of this move is a clear open-source commitment. Anthropic has become a Corporate Patron of the Blender Development Fund, committing at least €240,000 annually to support Blender and ensure it remains free and open-source. The integration also allows Claude to interface with Blender’s Python API through natural language, enabling scene analysis and script generation using simple prompts—lowering barriers to advanced 3D workflows.
Alongside Blender, Claude now integrates with major ecosystems including Adobe Creative Cloud, Ableton Live, SketchUp, Affinity Photo, and Splice. These connectors allow the AI to execute tasks within applications, automating repetitive workflows such as file organisation, layer renaming, and batch exports through conversational commands.
Anthropic stated, “These integrations aim to handle the repetitive, time-consuming parts of the creative process.”
The Adobe integration alone spans over 50 tools across apps such as Photoshop and Premiere, enabling conversational editing like retouching and resizing. Across industries, the update supports 3D artists, music producers, architects, and content creators.
The move highlights a broader convergence of AI and open source, positioning Blender as a first-class AI-integrated platform while signalling Anthropic’s long-term investment in open creative ecosystems.
